General Questions
- Besides being able to have herbal teas, are we able to have decaffeinated green tea?
- Can I do the Reset if I am a vegan / vegetarian / pescatarian?
- Can I follow a more advanced diet (Paleo / AIP)?
- Can I have dairy throughout the program?
- Can I have decaf coffee?
- Can I use frozen avocados? The fresh ones are quite expensive here.
Meal Plan & Recipes
- Could we skip a meal? The smoothies and the juice are very filling.
- Does the daily meal plan need to be followed in the order specified? Can we mix it up?
- How important are the times between eating on the menu schedule? For optimal liver healing/detox, do we need to wait 1, 2, 3 hours between food, the way it is listed in the schedule?
- I can't get all the food in. I'm 71 years young and slow in the morning. By the time I get my smoothie done, it's already noon. Then I get a salad for lunch around 3 PM, and dinner around 7 or 8. No juice or after-dinner drink.
- I can’t do all of the recommended foods and drinks. I’m fine with lemon water, smoothie, salad, and dinner with usually a snack of nuts or grapes, and tea at night. I don’t eat after dinner. Is this okay?
- I made the SAM Salad for lunch, and it was absolutely delicious. As it calls for mayo, I wanted to check in and see if there was a recommended brand/type of mayo?
Next Steps
- After the Reset, could I do a lemonade cleanse, which is lemon water and maple syrup only for two weeks?
- Are hot spices like cayenne and chili pepper, either on a detox plan, or after implementing the detox, okay to eat every now and then? Are they healthy or detrimental to the gut?
- Are there recommendations for how we reintroduce foods to our diets after the Reset? I want to return to the least restrictive diet possible for me.
- Can raw dairy, long fermented wheat, and sourdough bread ever fit back into my lifestyle, living with Hashimoto's? If not, what about alternative grains such as organic einkorn or pseudo grains, such as sorghum and buckwheat?
- Can we reintroduce all the foods we have eliminated when the program ends?
- Do we need to give up sugar forever? If the answer is yes, what have you found to be the best thing for a treat to look forward to?
Sensitivities & Substitutions
- Can bottled lemon juice work instead of buying so many lemons and squeezing by hand?
- Can I have nightshades if they don't affect me? Am I supposed to eliminate all the foods that clearly affect me/upset my stomach? There are so many things in the recipes that upset my stomach, and I am making myself nuts over this.
- Can kombucha or jun can be utilized as an alternative for fermented coconut water? I have no objection to coconut water, but making my own ferments puts a fair bit of quality control and affordability back in my hands.
- Can one substitute kombucha or jun, or does fermented coconut water provide nutrients not found in either one of those options?
- Can you please explain your warning about high histamines doing this program?
- Can you please tell me if I can drink maca safely if I am nightshades sensitive? I started feeling better after omitting all nightshades from my diet, but am unsure as to whether the maca is flaring up my symptoms again.
Smoothies & Juices
- Is it OK to use frozen ingredients in smoothies? For example, frozen avocado. Avocados get over-ripe fast, so is that an option or does it lose its nutritional value? What about other frozen ingredients (e.g., berries, etc.)?
- I’m having hot lemon water, smoothie and green drink each day, plus a salad with meat for lunch and dinner. I am not doing peppermint tea or detox juice. How important are they for the program? How can I get more packed into the day?
- Do you drink the reset smoothie all year long or only when doing the Reset?
- I am intermittent fasting and never have breakfast. How can I incorporate the smoothie, can I have it together with lunch? I usually eat my first meal around 1pm.
- I really don’t like smoothies in general, so I’m having a hard time with breakfast. What can I do to make them taste better?
- If I can’t drink a full smoothie in one go, can I just have half and then save the rest for the next day?
